• We had some new guests in camp this evening, so we headed out directly to find Mambiri’s youngster again. We did not find her immediately, so we decided to walk on foot to try to relocate her. We hadn’t walked more than 15 meters when a flock of guineafowl erupted about 50 yards from us, giving us a clear indication that the leopard must be there. We jumped back into the vehicle and managed to find her trying to hunt the guineafowl. She then lay down in some long grass, and we left her.
• We spent quite a bit of time with a large herd of impala at Nkombe Dam clearings. The light was perfect, and we were attempting to get some photos of them running and jumping! One particular impala lamb was a very late birth, and was only about two weeks old!
• A group of 5 elephant bulls was called in at Treehouse Mackenzie Dam, and they were apparently swimming! We raced over there, and were fortunate to get there in time to see them having an absolute blast in the water. The light was not very good, so we tried to get a little artistic with our photos! They were obviously in the mood for a swim, as we were there for about 20 minutes, and eventually left them still in the dam!
• We closed for drinks at Robyn’s Landing to a perfect sunset. The drinks however were interrupted by Julius hearing the two male lions roaring in the distance. We tossed the rest of our drinks, and raced over to where they were this morning, getting there just in time to hear them roar!
